Sinkhole!
So I woke up on Tuesday morning to the sound of helicopters overhead my neighborhood. I didn't think too much of it until I got to work and Anne told me that a watermain had broken right outside Glenn's Diner (my favorite restaurant and also next to my hairdressers). The watermain was 36" wide and 85 years old made of cast iron. It had been around 2 degrees outside most of the weekend and then it warmed up a little on Monday and they think that's why it burst.
So it flooded up and down the street. There is some video on CNN.com of the flooding that's pretty impressive. It flooded a lot of the cars, but it made the street give out and we now have an 80 foot wide sinkhole in the middle of Montrose Avenue. It's about 5 blocks from where I live, and right around the corner from Anne's apartment. Anne's car was parked nearby and got flooded and she hasn't had consistent water pressure since it happened.
